The role

You will work in rare disease, where a territory may hold twenty patients and the work is finding them, supporting the centres that treat them, and getting the details right.

What you will do

  • Own commercial performance for a rare disease territory
  • Partner with treatment centres, patient organisations and specialist clinicians
  • Support diagnosis pathway and referral education
  • Coordinate closely with patient services and case management
  • Operate with the sensitivity a small patient community requires

What success looks like at 12 months

Treatment centres in your territory engage with you, diagnosis and referral pathways have improved, and patients have started therapy who would not otherwise have been found.

What we require

  • Commercial experience in rare disease, specialty or a comparably consultative setting
  • Patience for long sales cycles measured in patients rather than volume
  • Judgement about privacy and sensitivity in a small community
  • Willingness to travel approximately 60%

What we would like, but will teach you

  • Rare disease experience specifically
  • Patient advocacy relationships
  • Clinical or genetic counselling background

If you meet the required list, apply. We cap the preferred list at four items on purpose, and we would rather read an application from someone who is 70% there and hungry.

Working pattern

Field-based within your territory, working from home when not travelling. Expect 50–70% travel.

This role is designated portable — it moves with you. If you are a military spouse and receive PCS orders, you keep this job, your grade and your tenure. How that works.

Pay and rewards

This role sits at grade 9, with a base range of $131,000 – $169,000 for this location, plus annual bonus, retirement contributions of up to 9%, and day-one benefits. See the full package.
