The role

You will build and run the infrastructure and pipelines that make large-scale biological data usable.

What you will do

  • Build, optimise and maintain bioinformatics pipelines at scale
  • Manage data ingestion, QC and standardisation from internal and external sources
  • Support scientists with reproducible analysis environments
  • Improve compute efficiency and cost in cloud environments
  • Document and version everything so results can be reproduced

What success looks like at 12 months

Pipelines run reliably and reproducibly, compute costs are understood and controlled, and scientists run their own analyses without asking you first.

What we require

  • Experience building bioinformatics or data pipelines
  • Strong programming and workflow tooling such as Nextflow or Snakemake
  • Cloud and containerisation experience
  • Understanding of the biology enough to spot nonsense output

What we would like, but will teach you

  • NGS pipeline experience
  • Single-cell data engineering
  • Experience supporting scientists directly

If you meet the required list, apply. We cap the preferred list at four items on purpose, and we would rather read an application from someone who is 70% there and hungry.
